Windows NT 4.0
This file contains instructions for installing the Quantum DLTtape Tape Drive device driver on Windows NT 4.0 Intel systems. This driver is for 32-bit Intel X86 Platforms only.
1. Shutdown Windows if it is running and power off the system.
2. Connect the DLTtape drive to the system. Ensure that the SCSI bus is terminated correctly and that there are no target ID conflicts. Power on the tape drive.
3. Power on the system and log into Windows.
4. From the "Start" menu, select "Settings" then "Control Panel".
5. Double-click the "Tape Devices" icon in Control Panel. The system scans for installed tape devices.
6. The "Tape Devices" dialog box is displayed. All DLTtape devices are shown there. If the dialog box indicates that any DLTtape drivers are already installed, they must be removed before continuing. Click on the "Drivers" tab. Highlight any existing DLTtape device drivers and click "Remove". Once all existing DLTtape drivers have been removed, continue with step 7.
7. Click the "Add" button . In the "Install Driver" dialog box, click the "Have Disk" button. The "Install from Disk" dialog box is displayed.
8. On the "Install From Disk" dialog box, click the "Browse..." button, and then locate the folder where you extracted and saved the driver files. Select the "Oemsetup.inf" file in that folder, and click the "Open" button.
9. Verify that the drive letter and path shown are correct. Then click "OK".
10. Double-click the driver entry named: "Quantum DLTtape(tm) Driver for NT 4 - Ver 2.4".
NOTE: If the "New Tape Device Found" dialog box appears, click "OK" to continue.
NOTE: If the "Windows NT Setup" dialog box appears and indicates that drivers for the tape device are already on the system, click the "New" button to ensure that the new driver files will be installed.
11. In the "Windows NT Setup" dialog box, type the drive letter and path to the folder that has the driver files. This is the same path specified in step 8 above. Click the "Continue" button to copy the driver files to the system.
12. When installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart the system. Click "Yes" to restart.
13. After the system has restarted, ensure that the driver is installed by checking the Tape Devices in the Control Panel. The tape drive drive should appear in the list of Devices with a status of "Driver loaded". Then click on the "Drivers" tab, and ensure that the version 2.4 driver is listed there with a status of "Started".
14. The DLTtape device driver is installed.
Extracting the files results in four files saved in the directory to which you extracted them. These files are:To make an installation diskette, copy the following three files to a formatted 3-1/2 inch floppy diskette.
