Just an FYI, Red Phone now combined with my favorite offshore texting app, Text Secure, and is now called Signal.

The voice clarity has improved in the last year, and it's a great method to keep private conversations - private! http://darrenchaker.us/

you can install it on a tablet. Instead of sms, you can ask voice automated call on any landline/mobile. The verification code will be spoken to you and you can enter it manually in the app

Why is there no date to this article/review? Since the software is continually under development, any review is only relevant if it's dated so it can be taken in context.

Is this website really so clueless as to omit such an important piece of info, or is it just trying to be sneaky and thinks we'll waste time reading a really old article if we can't tell how old it is?

The date is on the upper right."Review Date September 15, 2014"

Either that date wasn't displaying on my page last time I opened it, or I completely missed it (and I tried searching absolutely everywhere!) Either way, I apologize.

If only the font was larger and not located outside the border of the actual article. (A good software review, by the way).

I know. I agree. I'm just a writer, so I can't do anything about the page layout, but I can point things out in the comments!

Sorry to return to this issue of the date again.

In being notified of a (Sascha's) reply, I visited the page again. Surprise surprise, the date has gone again - and I know where I should be looking for it this time! I've tried zooming my font size in and out, in case the date is being hidden by another element on the page which overlaps with it - no luck. I can only assume this is how it was when I made my first comment here about there being no date, and that for some strange reason the date was being displayed when I returned the 2nd time. Very odd.

I'm using an up to date firefox browser, have tried enabling scripts and disabling adblock and nothing worked. Sounds like a job for PCMag's webmasters to sort out, though I doubt they'll take any notice of my little comment stuck down here ;)

I sent this whole page to our development team's "bugs" address. Let's see if they can figure it out.

In case this helps, I've returned to the page again, and the date is back. I then tried returning via a different link, and there's no date. It seems our comments are attached to 2 different versions of the article. One is titled "RedPhone Beta (for Android)" - this is the one currently displaying no date and is on the UK site. The other is titled "RedPhone (for Android)" - this is currently displaying the date and is on the .com (USA) site. As I said, our comments are attached to both versions.

I don't know if this is relevant, or if another factor determines whether the date will or will not be displayed, but it seems a likely culprit.
