Wireless Network Name
Enter the network name (SSID) that the printer/multifunction device will be associated with.

If the device is communicating in an Ad-hoc network and there is no access point, enable the "This is an Ad-hoc network and there is no access point" option. If you select this option you must also manually select the network channel you are using. If you do not know which network channel you are using refer to the documentation supplied with your computer and look for information on channel settings.

A personal firewall protects your computer from malicious attacks. If you are using a personal firewall on your computer and it is preventing you from discovering wireless networks or devices within the wireless network, we recommend that you temporarily disable the firewall.

However, by disabling the firewall, your computer will be prone to attack until you re-enable the firewall. Because of this we recommend that you disconnect your access point from the Internet before you disable the firewall. To do this, disconnect your access point from the Ethernet hub/switch that it is connected to, or disconnect the access point from the DSL or cable modem that is providing your Internet connection.
