When this happens, please make sure that the IP address is correct and the scanner device is powered up. If the registered device exists on the local network and "Search local network scanners" is selected, the registered device name will appear. * Document deletion timing When a Computer imports data from a scanner, the document stored in the Mailbox will be deleted once the last page of the document has been imported. (If the Mailbox setting is set such that the document will not be deleted after import, it will not be deleted even after it has been imported.) It is possible that the document might be deleted before it is imported, if the importing process is met with the following interruptions at the Computer: ** an error occurs during the process of compression and uncompression at the Computer ** the Cancel button of the utility is pressed and the importing process is cancelled ** the Computer is rebooted When this happens, the document cannot be imported again. * When Scanner Driver and Mailbox Viewer2 is used concurrently ** Scanner driver and Mailbox Viewer2 cannot be used concurrently on the same computer. Also, mulitple scanner drivers and Mailbox Viewer2 cannot be used at the same time. * Simultaneous connection to scanner device This model has the following limitations. 1) Data from the same scanner device cannot be imported to multiple computers with this utility. However, the information on the list of files can be displayed. 2) Files cannot be imported from the scanner device during fax transmission. However, the information on the list of files can be displayed from the utility. In any case, you have to import again after the job processing is completed. * When a decoding error occurs while a FAX document is being imported When a decoding error occurs while a FAX document is being imported, that particular page might not be correctly displayed on the screen. * About pages when transmission is disconnected during importing If transmission between the multi-function machine is disconnected when importing a document that is stored in the mailbox, the imported page may not be displayed correctly. * Importing multiple documents When importing multiple documents stored in the mailbox, communication with the machine will be cut off temporarily while importing each document. The importing process may be terminated if the scanner is being used by other computers during this process. * When image importing is in progress, select the space key or the Enter key to cancel. * Usually when the Cancel button is selected, it becomes suppressed. Display GUI before selecting Cancel. However, depending on the progress of the cancellation, GUI may not be displayed. * The following characters cannot be used as the path name for "Temporary Save in", "Save in" and "Folder Naming". \ / : * ? " < > | * Text Used for File Name or Location If text which cannot be displayed using Windows are included in the file name or location, they will not be displayed correctly in the File Name or Location of the network scanner dialog box. Moreover, if File Name or Location is selected at Naming of the Import Settings dialog box, text that cannot be displayed correctly will be changed to "_". If the text cannot be changed, the file name and location will not be added to the folder. * If the mailbox is configured not to delete data after importing, the Mailbox Viewer2 will not be able to import the same data again after importing it once. The imported data will be saved in the specified location in "Save in" and if the data is moved, it can be imported again. * When the Mailbox cannot be opened The document stored in the scanner may be corrupted if an error message "Invalid password" always appear and the contents of the Mailbox cannot be displayed even though the Mailbox number and password are correctly entered. When this happens, delete the document data that is stored in the Mailbox. * When the file space specified at "Temporary Save in" and "Save in" is insufficient If there is insufficient file space in the specified location at "Temporary Save in" and "Save in", the documents cannot be imported correctly and may be destroyed. Specify a drive with enough free space. * Port Conflicts If the port to be used in this utility is being used by another application or service, the following message will be displayed: "Network Scanner Utility2 is not available as the port conflicts with another application or service. End the application or service first, and then retry." In this case, you must end the application or service using the port. After that, re-execute this utility. Fuji Xerox (Ltd) CentreWare Mailbox Agent Fuji Xerox (Ltd) Document Director Muratec Sales (Ltd) OfficeBridge * Precautions when using CentreWare Flow Service from Fuji Xerox (Ltd) Please use the utility that is compatible to the version of CentreWare Flow Service in-use. For details, please refer to the Readme for CentreWare Flow Service. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Cautions/Limitations in the application of this scan driver -------------------------------------------------------------- This section describes the cautions and limitations for individual applications that are identified. * This Utility runs on Windows-on-Windows 64 (WOW64) x86 Emulation mode. To check whether the application-in-use is compatible, confirm with the application manufacturer. * All applications ** Memory error or freezing/hanging of application may occur when importing huge images. As the imported document may be deleted, check the specification of the application before using and import an image that does not exceed the permitted value. ** As lesser memory size that can be secured in Windows XP as compared to Windows NT4.0 and Windows 2000, when large-sized image (A0 600dpi-equivalent) is imported, the scan driver will show an error message stating, "Memory Error: Insufficient Memory". ** When document scanned in pseudo-grayscale is imported, spots may appear on the image. ** For applications that do not support multi-page document, only the first page will be imported even though multiple pages of the scanned document are imported. In this case, open the "Settings" dialog box from the "Settings" button of the scan driver and then select "By page" for the "Display Mode". As the document information will be divided and displayed one page at a time with this setting, import the images of these divided pages one page at a time. Only the first page will be displayed. ** For applications with gradient correction function, the orientation of the imported document will be rotated and the display may be tilted. This problem can be avoided if you do not select the gradient correction in the application. Read the application manual on the method of setting gradient correction. ** Depending on the application, there are limitations on the display of multi-page TIFF file created by Mailbox Viewer2. This includes one of the following. 1) Cannot be displayed or only the first page is displayed. 2) All pages or only the first page of the uncompressed color and grayscale multi-page tiff file are displayed. 3) Documents with color and black/white pages or mixed size multi- page Tiff file is not displayed. 4) Only the first page of a multi-page Tiff file consisting of only black/white pages is displayed. * Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. DocuWorks Ver. 6.1 When images exceeding the size limit specified in DocuWorks are scanned, an error will occur. For details, please refer to the DocuWorks Help. When scanning a long document, the width of the document will determine the standard paper size to be used. Thus the long document will be divided equally based on the standard paper size and become a multi-page document. If "Fit to Standard Size Paper" is selected, the unintended paper size may be selected. When this happens, change the settings at DocuWorks Desk according to your needs. For example, when the scanner reads an A4 size document as Letter. In this case, configure the following settings at the DocuWorks Desk. 1) Select Option... from File of the DocuWorks Desk. 2) Click the "Scan and Import" tab. 3) Check the box next to "Fit to Imported Image". If the paper size of an imported document is greater than A3 size, configure the following settings at the DocuWorks Desk to reduce it to A3 size. 1) Select Option... from File of the DocuWorks Desk. 2) Click the "Scan and Import" tab. 3) Check the box next to "If scanned image exceeds A3 size, fit it into A3.". Please refer to the manual to check whether file names can be attached in your scanner device. Please use the latest version of the scanner driver. To inherit the document name, follow the procedure below: 1) File -> DocuWorks Desk Options 2) Select "Save Scanned Document" 3) Select "Document name given during scanning will be used as the scanned document name" When this driver is associated with DocuWorks 5.0 and the scanned image is imported from the mailbox to DocuWorks Desk, scanning may fail with a message stating "TWAIN Communication Error" appears. When this happens, you can install Network Scanner Utility2 Ver. 3.0.4 or later to rectify the problem. In the previous driver version, problem will occur when the document name including path length exceeds 126 bytes. In DocuWorks 5.0, the same problem is expected if the hierarchy of the folder path exists deep down the directory during standard installation. If document with width or length exceeding 500mm is scanned, the area that has exceeded 500mm will not be displayed. For sizes such as A0, if both the width and height of the original document exceed 500mm, the dimension that will be displayed is 500mm x 500mm. If the size of the original document exceeds the dimension of A3 size, follow the steps below. 1) File (F) > DocuWorks Desk Options (O) 2) Select "Scan and Import" tab. 3) Select "If scanned image exceeds A3 size, fit into A3 (M)". -------------------------------------------------- 6.
