ProLiant Support
Packs represent operating system (OS) specific bundles
of ProLiant optimized drivers, utilities, and management
agents. These bundles of software are tested and
released concurrently with HP's SmartStart CD to ensure
proper installation and functionality.
ProLiant
Support Packs provide customers with a ProLiant system
software baseline that has already been tested and
verified by HP. Users can standardize upon a particular
release of a ProLiant Support Pack as a base level for
the servers throughout their environment. In addition to
the baseline capabilities inherent with ProLiant Support
Packs, HP provides tools that make deploying the
software updates to ProLiant servers throughout the
environment easy. For the Microsoft Windows 2000 and NT4
environment we provide the Remote Deployment Utility
which allows customers to deploy software updates
delivered within ProLiant Support Packs to remote
servers on a one to one basis. The Remote Deployment
Utility is automatically downloaded as part of the
ProLiant Support Pack.

| On 5/14/03 a
new Remote Deployment Utility (RDU) was replaced in the
ProLiant Support Packs for Windows version 6.30 to fix a
runtime error when running the RDU with components
released after 4/23/03. |

Important
Security Information
Security advisories
recently published by the OpenSSL project (http://www.openssl.org/
) have indicated the existence of potential security
vulnerabilities within the OpenSSL code. The OpenSSL
project is working on fixes, but verified fixes were not
available at the time of the release of the 6.3
SmartStart and Management CDs. HP strongly recommends
that you check the following website for updates on the
availability of fixes and the procedures for applying
them before installing any products from this support

| Installation |
|
|
| Important:
The ProLiant Support Pack for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
contains numerous files. All files must be present in
the same directory as the SETUP.EXE program or in order
for the Support Pack to be installed properly.
|
|
Primary
Installation Method
- Run the SETUP.EXE program included with the
Support Pack.
Note: By default, all
software is selected for installation. In most
circumstances this default selection should not be
altered.
- Click the "Install" button to proceed with the
installation.
Note: Even when selected,
only software that is appropriate for the system it is
being run on will actually be installed. After
installation of the appropriate software, the utility
will display its results, including indication of
software successfully installed, software not needed
for the current system configuration, and any
installation failures. |

Command Prompt
Installation
- A BPXXXXXX.CMD file is also provided with the
Support Pack for use in installing the Support Pack
from a command prompt without user interaction. As
with the SETUP.EXE program, all software appropriate
for the system it is being run on will be installed.

included in this Bundle Package. |

| Note: If
you install a PSP and then install an operating system
Service Pack or other operating system updates, HP
recommends reinstalling the PSP. |
